EXCERPT

The world passed by in colors of green and blue. Not a single color to remind me of the place where I had spent the last four years of my life. But I didn’t need much of a reminder. Those thoughts were imbedded in my brain, flashes of moments that came and went whenever they pleased. No matter what I tried, I could never get away from the desert. Not even on this train, drowning in the colors of lush trees and shimmering rivers that blur before my eyes. Just as buildings and houses began to pop up among the trees, the click-clack of the train wheels began to slow.
“Main Street Station,” the conductor’s voice echoed through the car. Other men in camouflage stood before me, all of them staring out the window at the approaching train station. I stared with them, holding on to some small shred of hope that Grace would be waiting for me. But I knew that wouldn’t be. I hadn’t told anyone I would be arriving early, so there was no way she could have known. But some part of me hoped she would feel my homecoming and show up on a whim. To see only a glimpse of her face would make this agony a little less harsh.
Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines dashed for the exits with their duffle bags thrown over their backs. I took a deep breath and stood, making my way to the front of the car. The conductor shook my hand before I stepped down to the platform. No words were spoken, but I nodded when I met his eye. After all, I did this for him. I did this for everyone.
I stepped off the train, and for the first time in my life, I adored Southern humidity. I breathed it in, letting the moist air fill my chest. And then I coughed, the sand rattling my lungs. I looked around me, feeling jealous of the many joyous reunions. I had seen my fair share of battles, but coming home was going to be the worst battle I ever had to endure. A homecoming without my father. A homecoming without the love of my life. Some things couldn’t be fixed, but I could still undo one wrong. I could tell my daughter I was her father.

Lucy Albright never wanted her family’s Texas ranch, but now it’s in foreclosure. She’s already lost so much she can’t bear the thought of losing one more thing. Ranch manager David Harmon has a reputation for being a cowboy with a heart of gold. Even if she refuses his help, down-and-out Lucy is the kind of woman he’ll do anything to protect. And while David may not know much about Lucy’s naughty side business, that won’t stop a cowboy from doing something he’s set his mind to.
With the ranch threatened by a scheming neighbor, Lucy can’t help but keep David around. Their attraction may be undeniable, but will the spark between them burn her entire future to the ground?

Review

Love this Lone Star series.
Independent women, strong cowboys with a big heart finding a common ground.

Lucy had left Texas as farming was never her thing. She returns to the farm out of necessity and duty.
She wants to save her family farm but seemingly good intentions from others may not be so. Lucy ventures on home based business where she experiments & markets " adult toys" to raise funds.
David Harmon is a handsome cowboy who has women flocking to his side. A horse trainer by trade who wants to help but will Lucy be making the same mistake again.

Heartwarming story of learning to trust and taking charge. Actions speak louder than words.

SEARCHING FOR DISASTER BY JENNIFER PROBST ~ REVIEW

SEARCHING FOR DISASTER by Jennifer Probst

Blurb:

The next highly anticipated novella in the Searching For series, a romantic spin-off of the Marriage to a Billionaire series from New York Timesbestselling sensation Jennifer Probst.

When Isabella MacKenzie tries to move on from her disastrous past, Officer William Devine is determined to show her that love is the only way to heal. This sexy enovella, the final installment in Jennifer Probst’s heartwarming Searching For series, follows the high-powered women of the popular matchmaking agency Kinnections, located in the small, picturesque town of Verily, NY.

REVIEW

Flawless story of things happening for a reason - to make one stronger, more insightful.
Isabelle is extraordinary but yet to accept. Devine is DIVINE, a man in uniform who is beautiful on the inside as well as outside. Izzy has been on a life journey travelling the world finding herself, her strengths and weaknesses and going forth full speed ahead.
The Book of Spells makes an appearance as well as Han & Leia from Star Wars in the cutest possible way.
A beautiful story of a display strength first externally but ultimately showing that the greatest is from within. Healing with closure. I love this story in how it showed the struggles one must seemingly face alone then the realization in strength from within and power of love

Ramsay - Review

Lydia De Havilland is shocked when Brogan Ramsay suddenly reappears in her life. Several years before, Brogan was the son of her family's gardener, and the boy she hurt and betrayed. But Brogan is no longer the quiet, sensitive boy she remembers. Now he's a man—gorgeous, powerful . . . and seeking vengeance.

Brogan Ramsay can't let go of the memory of Lydia tricking him cruelly, leaving his heart shattered and his family penniless. And now he's back to destroy her family the way his was destroyed. There's only one problem . . . the girl who wounded him so badly years ago is now a woman who still has the power to render him breathless.

Ramsay is the story of betrayal and wrath, of the strength of regret and the power of forgiveness. It is the story of the thin veil between love and hate, and how more often than not, when we seek to inflict pain on others, the heart we wound is our own.

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY ARIES. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Review

Great Standalone Read
Mia spins stories like no other, a masterful storyteller, one of the BEST I've read. Her writing is exemplary and stories are engaging.
Now Ramsay what can I say......THOROUGHLY ENJOYED. This is a MUST read!
Lydia De Havilland comes from a family of wealth. Brogan is the son of the family's gardener.
A betrayal occurs and revenge ensues. A story that is not only engaging a but teaches life lessons in how ones experiences and burdens reflects ones actions.
Captivating, heart-wrenching story that with love, trust, truth and faith comes FORGIVENESS.
I don't usually get emotional while reading but that garden party scene...simply put I had a lump in my throat. Very heartfelt and heart-wrenching.
Loved the fight scene between Fionn and Brogan, love the language used and the honesty that was spoken.
Memorable quotes "Thin line between love and hate."
An introduction for me to the Gaelic language and I LOVED it. This story had me at Mo Chroi.

Grin and Beard It - Review

by Penny Reid Winston Brothers #2 Publication Date: May 31, 2016 Genres: Adult,
Contemporary, Romantic Comedy
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo | iBooks | Smashwords
Sienna Diaz is everyone’s favorite “fat” funny lady. The movie studio executives can’t explain it, but her films are out-grossing all the fit and trim headliners and Hollywood’s most beautiful elite. The simple truth is, everyone loves plus-sized Sienna.
But she has a problem, she can’t read maps and her sense of direction is almost as bad as her comedic timing is stellar. Therefore, when Sienna’s latest starring role takes her to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park she finds herself continually lost while trying to navigate the backroads of Green Valley, Tennessee. Much to her consternation, Sienna’s most frequent savior is a ridiculously handsome, charming, and cheeky Park Ranger by the name of Jethro Winston. Sienna is accustomed to high levels of man-handsome, so it’s not Jethro’s chiseled features or his perfect physique that make Sienna stutter. It’s his southern charm. And gentlemanly manners. And habit of looking at her too long and too often. Sienna has successfully navigated the labyrinth of Hollywood heartthrobs. But can she traverse the tenuous trails of Tennessee without losing her head? Or worse, her heart?

Taken Home by Ruth Cardello

 Lone Star Burn Series

It first was known as Gentling the Cowboy then it became Taken, Not Spurred

then we meet takedown cowgirl in Tycoon Takedown

and

soon to be released in a few hours

Taken Home

Playboy Mason Thorne is nothing short of complicated. Though he was a movie star at a young age, his life took a downward spiral when he turned to drugs after losing his mother. He cleaned up his act and became a senator but still keeps his distance from most everyone—including his own father. There are plenty of women around, but most are gone by morning.

Twenty-five-year-old Chelle Landon thinks she must be the last virgin in Texas. She’s worried if she doesn’t remedy it soon, she’ll stay one forever. She attends yet another small-town wedding where the last single man her age is officially off the market, until sexy politician Mason Thorne appears. He’s the answer to her prayers, if one can pray for something that decadent.
He needs a cover story, not another lover. Chelle’s on a mission to lose her virginity, no matter what. Will he break her heart or will she heal his?

My Review

Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Mason fits the description of bachelor in every aspect. His upbringing is a Hollywood type - money and facades. He has no relationships, he has flings.
Chelle comes from a small town where all is known. Family and relationships makes her the individual she is.
When Mason and Chelle meet they form a "relationship" that is mutually beneficial in their goals but matters of the heart may present a different obstacle.
Love this series - the strengths and weaknesses exhibited. The growth of characters. The love of family and friends.
